Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223: Pre-Facelift or Facelift Parts?
Mercedes-Benz updates each model during its production run; this mid-life update is often called a facelift. For the W223 S-Class, Mercedes-Benz presented an extensive update on 29 January 2026 and says that more than 50 per cent of the car, around 2,700 components, is newly developed or re-engineered. So parts from earlier and updated cars can differ.
What the update changes, according to Mercedes-Benz. Outside: a larger illuminated grille, new DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps and newly designed tail lights. Inside: a redesigned instrument panel with the MBUX Superscreen, a new multifunction steering wheel, new door trims and a new centre console. Behind them: a new electrical and electronic architecture (MB.OS). Two parts can look almost the same and still have different mounting points, connectors or coding.
Why the year alone is not enough. A model year or registration date alone does not tell you which version a car is, and cars sold in different countries can differ.
